The Perrigo Company (NASDAQ: PRGO), the nation's leading manufacturer of store brand over-the-counter pharmaceuticals, vitamins and nutritional supplements, announced today that it is the first company globally to successfully earn the National Sanitary Foundation International (NSF) Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Registration for vitamin and nutritional supplement production.
NSF, a world leader in standards development, product certification, education and risk-management services for public health and safety, has established the new benchmark in quality for manufacturers of vitamins and nutritional supplements. NSF conducted a plant audit of Perrigo's vitamins and nutritional supplement facility in Greenville, South Carolina. In the audit, NSF verified that Perrigo complied with its GMPs, which are guidelines that provide a system of processes, procedures and documentation to assure the product produced has the identity, strength, composition, quality and purity that it is represented to possess. NSF will conduct ongoing audits of Perrigo's facility on a semiannual basis to ensure continuous quality.
