The Perrigo Company (NASDAQ: PRGO)(TASE: PRGO) today announced that its partner, Kali Laboratories, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Par Pharmaceutical Companies, Inc. (NYSE: PRX), has received tentative approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on its ANDA for Amlodipine Besylate Tablets, 2.5 mg (base), 5 mg (base) and 10 mg (base). Final approval is subject to the expiration of any applicable periods of patent protection for the reference listed drug (Norvasc ® Tablets 2.5 mg (base), 5 mg (base) and 10 mg (base), Pfizer, Inc.) listed in the FDA's Orange Book, including pediatric exclusivity extension. The final patent will expire on September 25, 2007. First shipments are expected shortly thereafter. Perrigo will market the products produced under Kali Laboratories' ANDA.
Annual U.S. sales for the brand are approximately $2.5 billion, according to NDC data.
