The emBARK on Pet Health campaign asks pet owners to take a free pledge to become more mindful of their pet's ongoing needs at www.embarkonpethealth.com. Each pledge triggers the donation of a Sergeant's Pet Health Kit, which will help one of the millions of animals waiting for their forever homes at local shelters nationwide.
Sergeant's Pet Care Products is committed to donating up to 5,000 kits, which will ensure these animals are sent home with all the products they need to get started on a healthy and happy life after adoption. With nearly 4,500 pledges taken to date, there is still time for consumers to visit the site and take their pledge so even more kits can be delivered to community shelters.
"There are millions of animals looking to be adopted in shelters nationwide at any given time," said Patsy Sumner, vice president of marketing services. "We hope the Sergeant's Pet Health Kits will give families an additional incentive for considering adoption this summer, knowing they will not only leave with a new lovable family member, but also with all the tools they need for a healthy start together."
The first batch of Pet Health Kits will be delivered beginning June 3. Local shelters receiving the kits include:
- Humane Society of Atlantic County in Atlantic City, N.J.
- Big Dog Rescue Ranch in Wellington, Fla.
- Humane Society of North Texas in Fort Worth, Texas
- Animal Aid USA/Miracle Ranch in Williamston, N.J.
- Tri County Humane Society in Boca Raton, Fla.
- Stanislaus Animal Services Agency (SASA) in Modesto, Calif.
All new pledges received from now until June 30 will benefit additional shelters, including:
- Bergen County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center in Teterboro, N.J.
- Guardians of Rescue in Smithtown, N.Y.
- Animal Foundation in Las Vegas, Nev.
- Five Acres Animal Shelter in St. Charles, Mo.
Each Pet Health Kit, estimated at a total retail value of $50, features the most popular Sergeant's products designed to keep pets healthy every day. These products include:
- Sergeant's Fur-So-Fresh Whiff Shampoo
- PurLuv Sizzlin' Strips
- SENTRY Petrodex Dental Kit
- SENTRY Calming Collar for dogs with Good Behavior pheromone technology

"Research shows that people with dogs or cats live longer, healthier and happier lives," said Dr. Robin Ganzert, president and chief executive officer of American Humane Association. "With these Pet Health Kits, we are hoping the newly adopted dogs will also go on to live long lives with all the tools they need for proper health."
